THE INTELLIGENT LABELING PLATFORM

Intelligent Labeling is the functional application of product data and user data communicated between products and networked systems. Enabled by small digital product labels, this new product labeling technology produces usage data and product intelligence which provides users with further electronic product functionality and yields acute consumer intelligence for the manufacturer. The Intelligent Labeling Platform consists of two dependent elements: The Intelligent Label applied to the product and The Intelligent Labeling System which is the networked, web based system that exchanges product, consumption and user data providing further electronic product data functionality. The first opportunity and market identified is the authentication of luxury goods. Further applications and markets for intelligent labeling are pharmaceuticals, medicine, medical products and high performance consumables.

A. The Intelligent Label
Compact and featherweight, Digital labels are tiny micro-computers applied onto products as labels. A digital label consists of a display, microprocessor, memory, power source and product data encased in a hard or soft casing. When integrated with sensors, communication interfaces, an operating system (Label OS) and custom application software a digital label becomes an intelligent label. An intelligent label can communicate product data, user and usage data between the product and networked systems. This new, original and proprietary product labeling technique enables a vast range of product intelligence based functionality and features never before available through traditional print or RFID labeling. With the functionality provided by the Label OS and custom software applications, intelligent labels can be programmed and applied to a wide range of high value products and goods that can communicate data to and from the product and product systems thus providing utility and effective consumption of the product.

B. The Intelligent Labeling System
The company’s proprietary Intelligent Labeling System is a networked database system that collects and stores product data, user and usage data. This system communicates and exchanges data with Intelligent Labels (products), users and manufacturers through a web interface or through other input/output interfaces such as a wireless communication network. Custom programs and application software can be written to create a diverse range of new electronic product usage functionality. Such applications can authenticate products, track usage history, track value over time, prescribe precision dosages, send product alerts and warnings, provide additional instruction and content data, order new or replacement product upon expiration, register and track ownership of the product and so on and so forth. Manufacturers can utilize the system to gather consumer and product intelligence directly from non-electronic (and electronic) products. The Intelligent Labeling System completes the Intelligent Labeling Platform and provides tremendous product consumption value to both the consumer and manufacturer.
